Dimitris Podaras, welcome to the Deree Basketball Academy!

It is our pleasure to announce Dimitris Podaras, in the Deree Basketball Academy coaching staff!

Dimitris, who will take over as the U16 & U15 teams’ coach, started as an athlete in Ilysiakos, had a brilliant career with A.E.K., and also played for Iraklis, Sporting, Pannelinios and Milon.

During his career as an athlete he played for the Men’s, U18, and U16 Greek national teams.

As a coach, he worked for a number of teams, such as the U18 Panathinaikos A.O., where he won the ESKA champioship, the Men’s teams of Ethnikos and Chalkida, and he was assistant coach in the U21 Greek National Team when Greece won the 2nd place in the World Championship.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science in Athens, and a FIBA ​​coach certification.

His vast experience as a coach and athlete, with his ability to develop young athletes, makes him a perfect addition to the Deree Basketball Academy coaching staff!

His goal is to implement the principles of hard work and consistency, contributing to the further development of the Deree Sports Academy and their athletes.

3 personal records, 4 medals, and 1 qualification for the National Championship for the Deree Track & Field Academy at the “Panionia 2024” Track Meet!

On Friday, May 24th, the Deree Track & Field Academy participated in the “Panionia 2024” meet, held at the Panionios stadium in Nea Smyrni.

One male and two female athletes from our Club took part in the meet, breaking 3 personal records, winning 4 medals, and securing 1 qualification for the National Championship.

The performances in detail:

  • Filippos Georgantas
    • 1st place in the 100m (already qualified for the U18 National Championship)
    • 1st place and personal record in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15’04
  • Eleni Kouta
    • 2nd place in the 600m race with a personal record and a time of 1:45″40 (already qualified for the U16 National Championship)
  • Eva-Elena Zafeiriou
    • 3rd place in the 1000m race with a personal record, a time of 3’23″02, and qualification for the U16 National Championship

With the completion of the meet, the DTFA team participating in the National Championship increased, with 5 female athletes already qualified in the U16 category and 3 female athletes and 2 male athletes qualified in the U18 category.

In the upcoming period of intense competitive action, other athletes of the Deree Track & Field Academy will have the opportunity to compete for their spot in the National Championship in their category and improve their performances.

3rd Place for the Deree Basketball Academy in the Final-4 of the Legacy Tournament!

The U13-1 team of the Deree Basketball Academy won the 3rd place in the Final-4 of the Legacy Tournament, which took place on May 25-26!

Our team prevailed in the tournament’s consolation final against A.O. Triton with a score of 47-44, demonstrating their dedication and hard work to achieve this significant distinction.

Congratulations to all the players of the team and their coach, Mr. Tasos Kardaras, for their efforts throughout the season.

Victory for the U14 team of the Deree Basketball Academy and advancement to the top 8 of the JrNBA!

Last weekend (May 18-19), the U14 team of the Deree Basketball Academy, which participates in the JrNBA, managed to prevail in an exciting match against the A.S. Typhon team, with a final score of 43-47.

With this significant victory, our team has triumphantly advanced to the top 8 teams of the JrNBA tournament.

Warm congratulations to all the players for their excellent performance and dedication, as well as to the team’s coach, Mrs. Aliki Evangelinou!

The last weekend (May 18-19) was full of successes for the Deree Track and Field Academy!

Specifically, it started with the U18 Championship held in Aghios Kosmas on Saturday, May 18 and continued with Bruno Zauli type competitions for the U12 and U14 categories, organized by A.O. Olympiada Kifissias EOKA at Zirinio Stadium on Sunday, May 19.

    • 1st place in the 200m with a time of 22.31 (qualification for the European U18 Championship)
    • 1st place in the 110m hurdles
  • Evelyn Mitropoulou
    • 1st place in the long jump with a performance of 5.77m (3cm short of the qualification for the European U18 Championship)
  • Eleni Stathopoulou
    • 5th place in the high jump with 1.53m (qualification for the Panhellenic U18 Championship)

    • 6th place in the 400m with a time of 61.88 (qualification for the Panhellenic U18 Championship)

The Deree Track and Field Academy participated along with 7 other clubs from Eastern Attica, with athletes earning points for their club, based on their rankings in the events.

Two first-places for the Deree Tennis Academy at the E3 U16 National Tournament in Kalamata and the U12 Open Kinder Trophy in Porto Rafti!

Two first-places in singles were achieved by  the Deree Tennis Academy athletes, Antonis Malavazos and Spyros Chatzispyros, who participated in the E3 U16 National Tournament in Kalamata and the U12 Open Kinder Trophy in Porto Rafti, held from May 17-19. Specifically, Antonis Malavazos at the E3 in Kalamata secured 4 wins to the title, while Spyros Chatzispyros at the Kinder Trophy in Porto Rafti secured 4 wins to win the tournament.

On May 27-31, the second phase of the 2023-24 Deree Soccer Academy skills tests!

The second phase of the 2023-24 Deree Soccer Academy skills tests will take place on May 27-31.

The measurements will be made in the skills of:

  • balance
  • speed
  • technique
  • ball shooting accuracy and
  • ball control

Then, the coaches will compare the results with those of the first phase, that were carried out in December, in order to evaluate the progress of the athletes and the program.

Important distinctions for Deree Tennis Academy at the E1 National Doubles Tournament in Porto Rafti!

The athletes of the Deree Tennis Academy performed very well at the E1 National Doubles Tournament held in Porto Rafti from May 10-12.

Antonis Malavazos and Konstantinos Papanastasiou won the 1st place in the U16 Boys category, while Melina Papageorgiou and her partner Melina Alevra won the 1st place in the U16 Girls category.

Spyros Chatzispyros and his partner Dimitris Antoniou secured the 1st place in the U12 Boys category.

6 Medals and 8 Final Qualifications for the Deree Swim Academy at the “2nd Acropolis Junior 2024” at OAKA!

The “Acropolis Junior 2024” was hosted at the indoor swimming pool of OAKA on the weekend of May 11-12, where the Deree Swim Academy participated with 24 athletes, winning 6 medals and qualifying for 8 finals.
