Two athletes from the Deree Track & Field Academy, who departed with the National team for Maribor, Slovenia last week, managed to make it to the top-8 at the U18 Balkan Championship in which they participated!

Specifically, Filippos Georgantas had an amazing race in the 100m qualifying event with a time of 10.68 (+3.3), earning a spot in the final where he finished 5th with a time of 10.88. This confirmed the qualification standard (10.90), and he will also compete in the U18 European Championship.

Evelyn Mitropoulou, although she did not perform at a high level, secured 7th place with a jump of 5.61m in the long jump, gaining valuable experience for her category’s European Championship.

Both of our athletes will represent the DCAC at the U18 European Championship, which will take place in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, July 18-21, marking a significant moment for the Deree Track & Field Academy.
